Housekeeping..
So, my spam folder – just the spam automatically weeded out by SpamAssassin – was 1.3G this year. I’m tar/bzipping it up and then deleting it, and I’m really thinking someone needs to do something a lot more aggressive about spam.
I’ll post a followup to this with how much you can compress spam, because I’m curious. Does it compress better or worse than regular mail? 😉

I think the “actual spam” parts would compress better than “normal mail” because they are repetitious – Viagra, Nigeria, PenisPenisPenis, CheatingWives, Viagra.
I think the parts designed to elude the spam filters would be closer to random, and probably not compress as well as regular mail.
By giving a two-pronged answer, I make it harder to refute my conjecture! 🙂
I once made a bad mail loop that grew my mailqueue to 1.6G — in 24 hours. I delayed email for all 30,000 or so accounts at virginia tech by 24 hours. Oops.

Hahaha, I like ClintJCL’s take. Though I am compelled to point out that the word penis was in there *3* times among only 5 sentances… But I guess we can just blame that on having to deal with so much spam or everyones favorite “TV”. 😛
Ahhhh… fun with mail.
Isn’t it time to build that evil, super-anti-spam system yet?

Much worse.
